Speaking with Edward Barber on the “Painfully Human Podcast,” Liza opened up about the emotional toll that social media once had on her life, particularly during her teenage years and the height of her career in the Philippines.
According to the actress, becoming less active online has dramatically changed her perspective.
“Ever since I stopped being as active on social media, I think, like, for the first time, I can actually breathe, and I have a better perspective on the world,” she said.

Liza explained that distancing herself from social media helped her realize that online conversations and opinions do not necessarily represent reality.
“Like I understand now that the world is so big and the problems that I face or the problems that kind of pop up on my algorithm or social media isn’t like the whole world and isn’t the opinion of everyone,” she shared.
The actress also reflected on how outspoken she used to be online. She admitted that she frequently voiced her opinions despite knowing that doing so could attract criticism and controversy.
“Before, I was very noisy on social media and very opinionated and I would get kind of in trouble for it a lot of times and I knew that I was going to get in trouble for it and I would still do it, anyway,” Liza said.
Looking back, she believes much of her energy was spent trying to make herself understood by everyone around her. Over time, that effort became emotionally exhausting.
“And so, I feel like my whole kind of teenage years and like, I guess, career here in the Philippines, I always like was just trying to make myself clear to everyone as possible, which kind of ended up being very taxing on me as an individual because I felt like I didn’t know who I was. I was just building this person to be the perfect person for everyone,” she explained.
Liza further revealed that her reduced social media presence has helped her let go of the need for validation and approval from others.
“So now, that I’m not on social media, I don’t care about being understood by people and I don’t care about competing or just showing people what they want to see necessarily and I don’t freak out over every little thing.”
The actress admitted that anxiety played a significant role in how she interacted online in the past.
“I think I was such an anxious person before and so I would even overthink emojis,” she added.
Her comments resonated with many listeners, with many praising her honesty about anxiety, self-discovery, and the challenges that come with living under public scrutiny.
