Nadine Lustre recently took to social media to share a lengthy and emotional reflection regarding the alleged issues she has been observing in Siargao, where she currently resides with her businessman boyfriend Christophe Bariou.

In a deeply personal post, the actress admitted that recent events and online content left her emotionally overwhelmed and reflective about the current state of society.

“Lately, things have been sitting heavily on my mind,” Nadine began.

She explained that after opening her phone, she was immediately confronted with disturbing stories and videos that made her think about the growing lack of respect in different aspects of life.

“It’s been undeniably overwhelming. It’s hard not to feel affected when you constantly witness such an absence of respect,” she wrote.

The actress then elaborated on how respect goes beyond simple politeness, describing it as a deeper awareness of how people move through the world and interact with others.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about how respect goes far beyond politeness. I think it’s a consciousness. A way of moving through the world with awareness,” she explained.

Nadine specifically spoke about the alleged treatment of locals in Siargao, expressing sadness over how some visitors allegedly behave toward the island’s residents.

“You see it in the disrespect locals here on the island continue to receive. The way some people come here and treat locals as if they are below them,” she wrote.

According to the actress, stories involving entitlement, aggression, and disregard for local communities have become increasingly painful to witness.

“It’s painful watching people treat this island like a temporary playground while the people who actually call it home are left carrying the consequences,” she added.

Aside from social behavior, Nadine also claimed there are issues involving governance and politics.

“You see it in the government. At this point, it’s become such a blatant shtshow that it almost feels insulting,” she said candidly.

The actress lamented how ordinary citizens are often left dealing with the consequences of corruption, greed, and incompetence.

Environmental destruction was another issue Nadine strongly highlighted in her reflection. She expressed concern over the supposed cutting of trees and projects being labeled as “development” despite harming nature.

“It’s unsettling watching people destroy the very things that keep us alive so casually,” she wrote.

The actress also called attention to reported cruelty toward animals and the tendency of some people to treat animal lives as disposable.

“And you see it in the way animals are constantly disregarded, as if their lives do not exist beyond human convenience,” she said.

Despite the heavy themes of her message, Nadine ended her reflection with hope and a call for mindfulness, compassion, and conscious living.
