In a Facebook post on Saturday, March 14, Ronnie addressed the issue candidly, focusing on the obligations of celebrities toward companies that supported them early in their careers. He wrote, “Ang nag bibigay sayo ng Libreng Fuel at sumuporta sayo noong nag uumpisa ka palang si Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. tapos ang ine endorse mo ibang oil company. Unfair naman un sa nag bibigay ng libreng fuel at tumulong sayo nun nag start ka palang lumaban and masakit din on their part.”

In a related report, Phoenix Petroleum released a statement regarding the resurfaced “lifetime fuel” issue involving Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz. The company said it fulfilled its commitments by providing fuel donations for the first two years following her historic Olympic victory. Phoenix explained that the arrangement could not continue once Hidilyn entered into a partnership with a different petroleum brand. The clarification came after remarks from Hidilyn’s manager reignited public discussion about the incentive.

Manuel Noel Ferrer, the manager of Hidilyn, then took to Facebook to comment on the fuel incentive previously granted to the athlete. The benefit from Phoenix Petroleum had originally been announced as “FREE FUEL FOR LIFE.” He clarified that no conditions or restrictions were communicated when the reward was first given after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Hidilyn’s team stated that they respect the company’s decision not to extend the fuel benefit, while highlighting the athlete’s ongoing dedication to bringing honor to the country.
