T.O.P was born on July 25, 1995, in Seoul, South Korea. He spent much of his younger life in Seoul together with his parents and sister Choi Hye-Yoon. A passion for music characterized his youthful years, and he derived much of the inspiration from the American rapper, the Notorious B.I.G.
After high school, T.O.P went to the Seoul Art College where he majored in Musical and graduated successfully. Later, he attended the Dangook University where he studied a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and Film. His passion for rapping became more visible with frequent practices in partnership with his friend and fellow band-mate G-Dragon.
Career
His career kickstarted with an early passion for rapping. He had begun dancing and rapping with his friend Kwon Ji-Yong, and later the two released their first album, Big Bang Vol.1 that came to the public limelight on December 22, 2006.
He later took part in various releases and performances together with his friends. His acting career began in 2007 with the first appearance in the music video, Hello, by Red Roc. He subsequently was featured in the series, I Am Sam, and several television series' and movies including Tazza: The Hidden Card, Out of Control, among others.
