Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano was recently criticized online because of her latest social media post that allegedly discriminated black people.

KAMI learned that the gorgeous actress uploaded a photo of her for an advertisement, and it was evident that she was imitating Spice Girls’ Melanie Brown.

The former “Dolce Amore” star wore a leopard print outfit and an Afro hairstyle to mirror the famous English singer and television personality.

A lot of netizens also accused the celebrity of wearing a black face, a kind of makeup that artists use to look darker, especially if they need to portray a black person’s role.

The said makeup is believed to be an insult to black individuals since it was originally used by white people to portray caricatures of African slaves.

“What the she did black face?!” a social media user commented.

Liza responded to the reaction of the netizen, and she also tried to explain that she was just wearing a costume to copy Melanie Brown.

In a series of Twitter posts, the actress humbly apologized to the people who got affected by her recent Instagram photo.

She mentioned that she fully understood how sensitive the topic is, and she clarified that she was not trying to mock any ethnicity or race.

She also showed her gratitude to the individuals who lectured her about the issue, as she admitted that she is still educating herself about cultural appropriation.

“Before everything gets out of hand I would like to apologize for those affected by my comments about the whole 'black face' issue…” Liza stated.

"I understand that this is a sensitive topic and that I should’ve kept my mouth shut…” she added.
