Former Mayor Ricardo Ramirez of Medellin, Cebu, was found dead at Bogo-Medellin Medical Center on Tuesday night.

KAMI learned that Medellin police chief Audie Pelayo noted that at least 15 armed men went to the hospital where Ramirez has been on hospital arrest since 2017.

In a report by the CNN Philippines (author Dale Israel), four vehicles with armed men arrived at the hospital on June 18. The men disarmed the security guards, even the jail guard assigned to Ramirez. The cellular phones of the medical staff were also taken.

It was also reported that Ramirez ran to hide in the restroom where he was shot by an armed man.

As reported by the ABS-CBN News (author Jude Torres), Ramirez was arrested in 2017 due to illegal possession of firearms. He was placed under hospital arrest after experiencing chest pains.

He served as a mayor for nine years. He was tagged as a “high-value target” in the illegal drug trade.
