Jennylyn Mercado is a proud mother of her son Alex Jazz with former flame Patrick Garcia.

In an interview with the Kapuso actress with Inquirer, KAMI learned that her 9-year old son has been a constant source of pride and joy in their family.

Jen admitted that it is really hard to joggle her showbiz career and as a single mother.

"It’s hard because I don’t have anybody to help me raise him,”

“But, if you love your kid, you’ll make time for him. Lagi kang gagawa ng paraan to make everything work. When I gave birth to him, he became my No. 1 priority," she said.

"These days, it’s not just all work for me, so at least three times a week, I allot my time for Jazz, especially now that I no longer have my mother to keep me company and help me with the house chores."

Her adoptive mother Lydia passed away on 2016 due to pneumonia.

Jen describes her situation as 'Masarap na mahirap'. She really has to adjust her time between work and her time for Jazz.

On the other hand, Jen is so proud that she is seeing her son Jazz growing up to be a courteous boy.

For Jen, her kid's behaviour is the reflection of who she is.

“So, ang situation ko, masarap na mahirap. Mahirap because of the obvious difficulties. At the same time, masarap because it’s a good feeling to see him growing up as a kind, smart and courteous boy. It’s a sign that you’re doing something right.

Jen is also proud of Jazz for having good grades. It was really fulfilling for her side that her son is growing up to be independent.

“To be specific, it’s satisfying when he gets good grades, at hindi ka pinapatawag sa principal’s office. It’s even more fulfilling when people compliment your parenting skills, ‘Ang bait naman n’ya.’ ’Di ba nakaka-proud bilang ina? Dahil ikaw ’yun, eh.”

When asked if she would allow her smart and good-looking son to enter showbiz, "I don’t think he’s interested in acting, because he’s the silent type. He’s well-behaved and shy, and he hardly talks.”

Jen will be the star in an upcoming GMA teleserye, 'The Cure'.

It is a drama-thriller series set to air on April.

Along with Jennylyn, Tom Rodriguez and JAcklyn Jose is also a part of the serye on GMA telebabad's slot.
