Netizens are enamored by vlogger Ry Velasco. She's charming, well-spoken, and has an uncanny resemblance to teen queen Kathryn Bernardo.
But who is Ry Velasco? She's actually Angel Velasco, the daughter of former boxer and Olympic silver medalist Onyok Velasco!
The 19-year-old has a popular YouTube channel were she posts makeup and beauty tips for her thousands of followers.
In a guest appearance on morning show Magandang Buhay in 2016, Ry said Onyok really supports her passions.
"Siya 'yung parating nagmo-motivate sa'min. Alam mo 'yung tipong kahit small, like, sumasali kasi kami sa mga competitions, kaming mga siblings. Tapos kahit small competition, big competition, parati siyang nandiyan para sumuporta," said Ry.
The veteran athlete also advises them on how to deal with failures and trials.
"Kapag nagfe-fail kami, parang 'Daddy parang di ko kaya yan.' Sasabihin niya lang, kapag nagfe-fail ka, the next thing to do is try harder," shared Ry.
The young woman also trains with her father in boxing during vacations. She said all of her siblings asked their dad to teach them so they can learn self-defense.
Aside from vlogging, Ry also has a passion for dancing.
Ry is currently studying Export Management at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
Onyok Velasco has four children with wife May Balisi-Velasco.
He won a gold medal in boxing at the 1994 Asian Games. He also won silver at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
After his Olympic bout, he became a celebrity, appearing in several comedy films and televesion shows in the 1990s.
