The Budots dance originated from Davao City in Mindanao.

It is usually played in fiesta party sound systems or internet.

"Budots" is a slang term for "tambay" which means people who does not have job or permanent jobs. They oftentimes just wander around and do nothing.

It was these "tambays" in a small Barangay in Davao who started it.
