- Rumors claimed that the fight is simply for fun and a publicity stunt.
- KAMI. com.ph will host live coverage of the Baron Geisler vs Kiko Matos exhibition fight.
Actors Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos will finally settle their beef in a cage fight tonight at Valkyrie, The Palace. However, rumors are rife that the fight is simply for entertainment and a publicity stunt.
This means that spectators should not expect the actors to go all out as there seems to be no more animosity between the two. Thus, it will be like a friendly match.
In their pre-fight meetings like in press conferences and weigh in, the two showed angst towards each other to allegedly keep the audience interested in the fight. This is because the news eventually died down.
In their meetings Matos kicked and sprayed urine on Geisler, although the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) later confirmed that it was beer that was sprayed to Geisler.
However, URCC claimed that the fight is for real and is not an act. The two actors underwent training to put up a good fight against their opponent.
“The URCC always gives the best and most exciting matches people want to see and we NEVER sell fights, we NEVER have any company champions and we also NEVER fix fights,” URCC said in a statement.
However, the proceeds of the exhibition fight will go to charity.
Last month, the two made headlines when they were involved in a brawl in a bar in Tomas Morato. The fight was caught in a video, which went viral. In the video, the two were trying to shake hands, but Matos attacked Baron enraging the actor. According to reports, Baron called out Matos for allegedly disrespecting one of the servers in the bar.
In an interview with News 5, Baron called out Matos threatening him saying, “Magkita tayo sa mata. Pagod ako. Pagod na pagod ako. Pero sige. Ikaw, Kiko Matos, magkita tayo sa mata. Mahal kita, pero bibigwasan kita. Isa lang. Magkita tayo.” (Let’s see each other in person. I’m tired. I’m so tired. But okay. You, Kiko Matos, let’s see each other in person. I love you, but I’m going to hit you. Just one. Let’s see each other.)
Matos answered saying, “Face me. Don’t Facebook Me.”
Both camps were contacted by URCC and proposed that they settle their differences in an official fight. This could pave the way for other celebrity matches in the future.
