A routine day in Barangay Santa Filomena, Arevalo, Iloilo City, turned into a scene of violence as a local barangay official allegedly stabbed his former employee to death following a dispute over money.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlights the tragic consequences of long-standing financial animosity.
The victim, who was working as a water delivery collector at the time of the incident, was seen in closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage engaging in a verbal altercation with the suspect.
Moments later, the victim was seen running for his life as the official and another unidentified man gave chase.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the victim was eventually cornered and attacked with a small blade.
One witness recalled the intensity of the moment, stating, "Nagtatalo sila. Iyon ang nangyari bago tumakbo dito sa unahan ng mesa, iyon na, sinaksak niya. Ang liit-liit ng kutsilyo."
According to a report by GMA News Online, the victim sustained critical wounds to his shoulder and underarm.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, medical professionals declared him dead on arrival.
The live-in partner of the deceased shared a heart-wrenching account of the victim's history with the suspect.
She claimed that the victim had served as a collector for the official’s lending business for nine years before resigning two years ago.
Since his resignation, she alleged that the suspect had frequently harassed the victim regarding financial matters.
“Plano ko na magsampa kami ng kaso. Hindi puwedeng patawarin. Hindi mabuti ang ginawa niya. Humingi pa ng tulong ang partner ko, hindi pa rin niya tinigilan. Pinatay niya,” she lamented.
Police Captain Michael Tuburan, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 6, confirmed that the primary motive being investigated is the conflict arising from the lending business.
While specific details on the exact trigger of the argument are still being finalized, the official and his accomplice are now facing murder charges.
The local barangay captain has expressed willingness to assist in the surrender of the suspect, who remains at large.
As the investigation continues, the family of the victim continues to cry out for justice, hoping that the authorities will quickly apprehend those responsible for the cold-blooded act.
