This statement immediately drew flak from loyal supporters of the network, who deemed the joke insensitive given the ongoing challenges faced by the media giant.

When asked about the issue during an interview with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), Vice maintained a calm and composed demeanor.

Despite not having seen the actual clip, the host offered a measured perspective on the nature of comedy.

“E, siyempre, hindi natin masasaklawan ang komedyante. Hindi rin natin masasaklawan ang reaksiyon ng mga taong makakarinig ng joke,” Vice explained, as quoted by Bandera.Inquirer.net.

The “Unkabogable Star” added, “So, that’s life, di ba? E, komedyante si Sir Joey, nag-joke siya. E, trabaho niya yun. Nagdyo-joke siya.”

Beyond the controversy, Vice took the opportunity to express unwavering support for their home network, which has been navigating significant hurdles since losing its broadcast franchise.

“E, for the longest time, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal ang ABS-CBN, di ba? Magmula pa noong natanggalan ng prangkisa yan, di ba? So, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal sila at suportahan sila at manatili akong kasama nila habang lumalaban sila sa mga pagsubok nila, yung ganu’n,” Vice shared.

The “Unkabogable Star” indicated that she remains hopeful that the network's issues will be resolved, noting that ordinary citizens stand to benefit the most from the restoration of its extensive public services.
