The critics said that Toni allowed Bongbong to whitewash and revise the dark history of the Martial Law regime of his father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. However, Toni's defenders said that she was just trying to be unbiased on who she interviews since she has also interviewed his political rival Vice President Leni Robredo.
Well-known journalist Ces Drilon finally reacted to the interview, tweeting that she felt sad while watching the controversial interview.

According to Ces, Bongbong allegedly learned from his father how to plunder, a swipe at the title of the interview – “The greatest lesson that Bongbong Marcos learned from his father.”
