Shamcey Supsup, nawindang nang siya'y magka-COVID: "Bakunado kaming lahat"

- Shamcey Supsup has been battling with COVID-19 for more than a week before she finally overcame it and got better

- What puzzled the beauty queen was that all of them have received their COVID-19 shots

- She said that the illness came as a shock because they still got infected and they even had mild to moderate symptoms

- The beauty queen also said that one of the symptoms that she experienced for the first time around was the total loss of taste and smell

Shamcey Supsup, a beauty queen and the director of the Miss Universe Philippines expressed how shocked she was.

This is because, she and the rest of their household have already received their COVID-19 vaccines and they were not expecting to contract the illness.

“Covid-free. A few weeks ago, what we all thought was just a simple flu turned out to be Covid."

She then added that they were all vaccinated and yet they still got it.

"It came as a shock because we were all fully vaccinated but we still got infected and even had mild to moderate symptoms. I would describe it as a really really bad flu,” said Shamcey.

“It was also the first time that I’ve experienced a total loss of smell and taste."

“Lucky enough, we were able to get better at home. Praying for everyone’s safety and for the pandemic to end soon,” said the beauty queen.

Shamcey Gurrea Supsup was born on 16 May 1986 at Mercy Community Clinic in Iligan, Lanao del Norte. Her parents are Timoteo Ferolino Supsup and Marcelina Luega Gurrea. She moved with her family to General Santos when she was three years old. She graduated valedictorian in grade school and then salutatorian in High School. She graduated magna cúm laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Shamcey Supsup wowed many netizens after she posted on Instagram a photo of her report card with high marks. The beauty queen admitted that she used to be really conscious of her grades when she was still a student. However, the Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-up shared one realization that grades are not everything. Shamcey studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman and graduated with Latin honors in Architecture.

She also took to social media to air her gratitude to supporters of Miss Universe Philippines. The beauty queen and National Director for Miss Universe Philippines Organization first announced that she got tested negative for COVID-19. She then admitted that organizing the said beauty pageant amid pandemic has been really challenging for them. Shamcey likewise penned that no matter how difficult this year is for the competition, they would not give up nor lose hope.
