- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has withdrawn the show-cause order it issued against Manila Mayor Isko Moreno
- The order alleged that the 2018 anti-illegal drúgs campaign of the city government of Manila is inadequate
- While the national government agency may hold hard data as evidence, it might have overlooked the fact that Moreno only assumed office in 2019
- The DILG must have noticed this later on as it immediately withdrew the order, calling it an “inadvertent re-issuance.”
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno can finally breathe a sigh of relief with the withdrawal of the show-cause order issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Earlier, the national government agency issued a show-cause order against Yorme for its alleged inadequate anti-illegal drúgs campaign in 2018.
The DILG held evidence of their claim, which was based on 2018 hard data.
The problem is that Mayor Moreno assumed office only on June 30, 2019, after winning in the mid-term elections.
This could mean that he had nothing to do with the city’s anti-illegal drúg campaign as he was not the mayor at the time.
The DILG, which might have overlooked this fact, recently corrected itself, and withdrew the show-cause order, citing “inadvertent re-issuance.”
The national agency also forwarded a copy of the memorandum on Friday to INQUIRER.net.
According to DILG Undersecretary Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri said that they are withdrawing the document due to the error.
“By virtue of this error and the guidance of policies and procedures of the Department, we are hereby withdrawing the document in issue,” USec Echiverri said.

When President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assumed the presidency in June 30 of 2016, he promised to drastically minimize, if not eradicate, the illegal drúg trade in the country. Subsequently, he issued orders to local government units to embark on a massive and stringent anti-illegal drúgs campaign. The President chastised and issued show-cause orders through the DILG to Mayors and Governors who failed to launch an effective campaign.
In a recent interview with Karen Davila for her YouTube channel, Yorme got very candid with how his life was when he was still young. Mayor Isko shared how he started working as a garbage collector when he was only 10 years old. The Manila mayor further revealed that he has been working every day since he was in grade school.
In the same interview, Yorme also recalled his career in the movie industry back then. Karen asked Mayor Yorme if he was still working as an actor, which actress would he want to be his on-screen partner. Isko revealed that he would have liked to work with actress Anne Curtis and Bea Alonzo.
