Celebrities took to Instagram and to their other social media accounts and congratulated Hidilyn Diaz for bringing the country its first Olympic gold medal.

The Olympian bested other competitors and successfully lifted 97kg in the snatch and did splendidly with 119kg, 124 kg and 127 kg.

She has actually been living in exile in Malaysia since last year, February, due to the pandemic.

Hidilyn Diaz is set to receive P33 million when she comes home from Japan. She will receive P10 million from the government. Another P10 million from MVP Sports Foundation and another P13 million from other entities.

The Olympian turned emotional when she finally bagged the much-coveted gold medal in the Olympics. She beat Liao Qiuyun of China as well as Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan. Diaz thanked God for her victory and thanked everyone who prayed for her. She has remained humble all throughout her journey and indeed, her sacrifices have paid off.
