Janine Gutierrez received a rather shocking advice from her grandma, Pilita Corrales, whom the actress fondly calls “Mamita,” in case she gets to be talked down by another celebrity.

According to the Asia’s Queen of Songs, her granddaughter should immediately slap the “mataray” celebrity.

The actress have Pilita as a guest in her vlog with the title “Truth or Dare with Mamita.”

At the outset, Pilita asked if she needs to tell Janine’s audience the truth, to which the actress immediately replied in the affirmative.

“Yes! People I guess want to know more about you and also challenge you because they see that you’re so strong, talented and timeless,” Janine said.

In the process of their conversation, Pilita asked if Janine ever had a celebrity horror story.

“Actually, wala naman akong celebrity horror story. I think they’re all nice to me because Mamita is my lola,” Janine answered while her grandma laughed.

The actress then recalled an instance in the past where a celebrity became “mataray” to her.

“There was just this one time na I was supposed to host an event. They got me because the girl they originally asked hindi siya available or parang ayaw niyang gawin. So, nu’ng nakita ako ng artista na ‘yun, ‘she was like, ‘uy ikaw na pala ang gagawa ng ganyan?’ sabi ko, ‘yeah.’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘ah, hindi ko kasi tinanggap,’” Janine narrated.

Without batting an eyelash, Pilita told Janine she should have slapped the celebrity immediately.

“Sinampal mo sana kaagad! Sabihin mo lang, ‘e kasi mas maganda ako kaya ako ang kinuha. Ganyan ang answer na maganda,” the Queen of Songs said.

Pilar Garrido Corrales, better known as Pilita Corrales is a Filipina pop singer-songwriter, actress, comedian, television presenter and famously dubbed “Asia's Queen of Songs.” She was borh on August 22, 1939 at Lahug, Cebu City to José Corrales and María Garrido. She is widely known for her rendition of "Kapantay ay Langit" which eventually became her signature song. Pilita has two children, Jackielou Blanco by her late husband, Spanish businessman Gonzalo Blanco, and the father of Janine, Ramon Christopher Gutierrez by Filipino actor, Eddie Gutierrez. Pilita remarried almost 20 years ago to Paraguayan businessman Carlos Lopez. They have one adopted son, VJ.

Janine is also busy with other stuff aside from her acting, modeling, and vlogging. She is also very active on social media, particularly on social issues, where she oftentimes receives a great degree of bashing. In a Twitter post in the past, for instance, Janine wrote that the government seemed not to have compassion considering that the country has been bearing the pandemic for a year. The actress lamented that instead of giving a solution, the advice that was given was to keep on bearing it and not to complain. Because of her strong words, a basher hit back at Janine and told her to shut up but the actress still fired back.

In terms of political opinions, the actress is happy she has many allies among her followers. She learned this after many of her followers defended the actress against a basher who called her “tamad” and “tanga.” The actress received some degree of bashing after she posted a question whether the recently announced MECQ come with new rules and guidelines. While Janine provided a classy response to the basher, followers of the actress went all-out and became ruthless with their responses to the basher.
