Several celebrities took to social media to denounce what they see as the unpreparedness of the government as it shifts from ECQ to MECQ.
Last March 27, authorities announced that NCR Plus bubble, which comprises Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, would be under ECQ from March 29 to April 4.
A day before it is supposed to be lifted, authorities extended the NCR Plus bubble’s ECQ status until April 11.
Yesterday, April 11, the government announced there will be a shift from ECQ to the more relaxed MECQ.
Authorities did not provide any details as to whether there will be new rules and guidelines under the modified status.
“P*ny*ta! Kulang kulang mag report! Ipagpapabukas pa kung ano pagkakaiba ng ECQ sa MECQ! Pero dami time mag liwaliw sa Malacañang! Basurang gobyerno!” actress Yen Santos said.
“May guidelines na ba for MECQ? Nalilito na ko, sorry na, honest question to, wag nyo ako ibash,” Gabbi Garcia asked.
"Ano nga ulit yung MECQ? Can't find the infographics anymore - does anyone have one?” Janine Gutierrez also asked.
A basher replied to her post that the actress need not be lazy to update herself since the government provides all the details anyway.
“Ay hindi pa po talaga sila nag-aanounce. Bukas pa daw. Wait mo rin,” Janine replied to the basher.
Regine Velasquez, naging usap-usapan dahil sa matalinghaga niyang post sa Twitter: “Bakit parang pinabayaan…”
The actress then followed up her post with: “Ayun na nga. Intay muna ulit. Mahirap talaga magplano sa gobyernong walang plano para sayo. Kapit!”
The most amusing post, however, came from Cherry Pie Picache. “Our status for today EWANQ,” she said.

The enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) within the NCR Plus bubble is a series of stay-at-home orders and cordon sanitaire measures implemented by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) for Metro Manila and four other provinces comprising Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. It is part of the COVID-19 community quarantines in the Philippines, a larger scale of COVID-19 containment measures with varying degrees of strictness. The ECQ is the strictest of these measures and is effectively a total lockdown. The MECQ is its more relaxed form, though still stricter than the GCQ and MGCQ.

Actor Jake Ejercito also lambasted the ECQ that was implemented in Manila. Around two weeks ago, he took to Twitter and aired his frustration against the ECQ 2, which for him, defines insanity. He then went on define insanity, which is to do things repeatedly expecting different results. The ex of Andi Eigenmann then used the hashtags “#ECQSeason2 #Palpak”
Last April 3, authorities announced the extension of the ECQ status in the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. According to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr., NCR plus will remain under ECQ for another week starting April 5 to 11, 2021. This is to ease the continued surge in COVID-19 cases in the said areas. It can be recalled that the government reimposed the strictest community quarantine status from March 29 to April 4.
