Regine Velasquez fired off a simple tweet on April 9 that appeared to have lit Twitter on fire.
In her post, the singer-actress lamented at what is happening and also inquired as to why it seems everyone is being left to his own.
“Bakit parang pinabayaan na lang tayo? Kanya kanya matira matibay ganon na lang ba talaga?” Asia’s songbird tweeted.
While the first part of her tweet does not address anyone in particular, netizens believe it is directed towards those in the government who are in charge of handling the current health crisis.
“People are dying people we know relatives friends! Every single day may nalalagas sa atin. What’s happening??” the second part of Regine’s tweet read.
Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) revealed that there are 2,674 new cases of COVID infections on April 10, bringing the total to 853,209 of coronavirus infections in the country, of which, 190,245 are active.
In the same DOH report, it also revealed 225 COVID patients died on Saturday, bringing the total fatalities to 14,744 in the Philippines ever since the illness reached the country’s soil last year.

Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez, more popularly known as Regine Velasquez, is a Filipino singer, actress, and record producer who rose to fame prominence after winning the 1984 Ang Bagong Kampeon and the 1989 Asia Pacific Singing Contest. Velasquez signed with OctoArts International under the name Chona in 1986 and released the single "Love Me Again", which was commercially unsuccessful. After adopting the stage name Regine Velasquez, she signed a recording contract with VIVA Records in 1987 and released her eponymous debut album, which include her singles “Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang” and “Urong Sulong.”

Around two months ago, Regine shared with “Magandang Buhay” the challenges their family faced due to the pandemic. The singer revealed that the death of Ogie’s father was among the most difficult they faced. She said that Ogie was able to see his dad for the last time in March 2020. Regine then reminded viewers to be vigilant against the COVID-19.
Recently, the singer posted on social media about being a mom amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. She stayed away from her son for a couple of weeks because she did not want to risk getting Nate infected with COVID-19 as she was working outdoors. Before she got to kiss and hug her son again, Regine made sure first that she tested negative for COVID-19. The Kapamilya star also urged the public to always follow health protocols.
