Based on the CCTV footage, the car, which appears to be an old Volkswagen Beetle, was parked on a roadside curb.

SG Kenneth Brian Cangke, who was on duty at a school, which was directly in front of the road where the car was parked, may have smelled something burning causing him to open the steel gate.

He then saw the car was already full of smoke and its back portion was already on fire. The engine of old Volkswagen Beetles is located at the back section of the car.

Upon seeing there is a little boy on the front passenger seat, SG Cangke immediately rushed to open the door.

Unable to open the passenger side, Cangke then ran to the driver’s side and opened the door.

He was able to get the 3-year-old boy out just when a huge blaze engulfed the lower back end of the car.

The security guard then went to get a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.

For his heroic deed, the Bureau of Fire Protection in Davao region recognized and honored him during the culminating activity of the BFP’s Fire Prevention Month.

The BFP also took the opportunity to call on vehicle owners to check their cars regularly so as to avoid a similar incident from happening.

Many security guards in the Philippines have performed heroic deeds beyond their call of duty. Unfortunately, they are also one of the most unappreciated sectors and is often subjected to harsh language by some persons when they attempt to enforce the rules of an establishment. Although it’s not part of their job anymore, many security guards are often seen assisting cars backing out of the parking areas, and some would even assist grocery store customers in carrying items they bought to their vehicles. Despite these, security guards would always perform beyond the expectations of those who hired them.

Chynna Ortaleza, emosyonal nang ma-aksidente sa bahay ang kanyang bunso

It’s not only humans that security guards help. Last year, a stray dog entered the mall and laid on the floor for a cool and comfortable rest. Somewhat bothering other customers, mall security personnel tried to find a way to bring the pooch out. One security guard earned praises online after he showed kindness to the brown stray dog. Instead of pulling or treating the dog harshly, the kindhearted security guard petted the pooch, and held its forelegs, and slowly brought it out of the mall.

Security guards also know how to have fun. Recently, a security guard at Butuan City Hospital delighted netizens with his TikTok videos. In the video, the security guard could be seen dancing to various hit songs including Korean boy band BTS' hit, “Dynamite.” The security guard, who was later identified as Ryniel Pineda, was previously a dancer and choreographer. His TikTok videos garnered various reactions and comments from netizens on social media.
