Authorities in Biñan City, Laguna may have found an effective way of dealing with violators of health protocols and quarantine guidelines.

Violators were nabbed for failing to wear face masks. Biñan City’s Public Order & Safety Office (POSO) Chairman Rommel Lim has been advising the public to observe safety protocols and quarantine guidelines.

In recent weeks, COVID-19 cases were again surging at an alarming rate, prompting government authorities to establish what they call as a “bubble.”

In the case of the NCR Plus bubble, only authorized persons are allowed essential travel into and out of these areas, which include Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. Stiff penalties await those who fail to observe the rules in force within the bubble.

For violators in Biñan City, they are made to clean the cemetery in the dead of night.

The official Facebook page of the Biñan City POSO shared a couple of photos of individuals busily pulling out long grasses and cleaning a cemetery’s surroundings for failure to wear face masks and other violations.

They need to perform this task before they can be subject for release.

Biñan City authorities said they want the public to see what can happen if they violate safety protocols designed to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Biñan City, which is in Laguna, is under the NCR Plus bubble, along with other provinces like Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal. The National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (NIATF) established the bubble to address the surging new cases of COVID-19. Those who live within the NCR Plus bubble can still do their usual routine under the normal GCQ level, including staycations within the "NCR Plus" bubble. However, people are prohibited from holding any type of gathering, visiting cinemas, libraries, driving schools museums, arcades, and other cultural sites as these would be closed anyway, indoor eating in restaurants, and staying out of the home from 10pm to 5am.
