The term plantita refers to a person, usually a woman, who grows, owns, and cares for many plants.

The Kapamilya star said that she has always been fond of plants, but her desire to learn more about caring for them started in 2014 when she started her home renovation project.

“Hindi ko pa nakikita ‘yung significance ng plants sa loob ng house. Noong nagpa-renovate ako, sinama sa design ‘yung mga indoor plants tapos nagandahan ako hanggang isa-isa silang namatay,” the 34-year-old actress said.

Since then, the “Walang Hanggang Paalam” star began studying and researching on how to keep the plants alive and healthy indoors.

It was also during this time that the star of the film “Love or Money” started to plant various types of vegetables, such as eggplants, tomatoes, and “malunggay” or moringa, sometimes referred to as horseradish, as well as chili plant.

“Nag-start na ako sa mga kamatis, eggplant, sili, basil. Noong tumutubo na sila at nakakakuha talaga ako ng bunga, may puno ng malunggay pwede kang mag-tinola from your own backyard, doon ko na-enjoy talaga ang paghahalaman,” Angge happily revealed.

The actress also shared some of her prized plant collections like her newly-bought Dracaena Anita, which she waters once a week so as to ensure it will not drown.

Angelica also showed her Alocasia, which she admits is a bit difficult to care for. She also proudly presented another plant she owns, a type of Caladium called the Heart of Jesus. The actress said she was still able to buy it at a lower price back when being a ‘plantita’ is not yet a fad.

She then showed her Medusae plant and shared the story behind it. Angge said she had always wanted to have a Medusae but she was also afraid at the same time it might die as she admits not being an expert in caring for such plants.

The price of a Medusae at that time is around P15,000. “First time ko mag-aalaga ng ganoon, paano kung mamatay? Saan napunta ‘yung P15,000 ko? Sabi ko, ‘di ko ‘yan kayang bilhin. Lagi ko siyang binabalikan every Thursday, nandoon lang siya,” the Kapamilya star said.

However, when its price went down to P8,000, Angge decided to take a chance and bought the plant.

“Kasi alam ko ‘yung pinanggalingan niya na price, masasaktan talaga ako kapag hindi siya sa akin mapunta. Hindi ko ata mapapatawad ‘yung sarili ko. ‘Di ba medyo painful ‘pag hindi napunta sa’yo yung halaman na matagal mo nang minamataan,” the actress said.
