Tony Ferrer, a former actor in the Philippines, has passed away at the age 86.
KAMI learned that the so-called James Bond of the country breathed his last on Saturday, January 23, inside his home.
The news was confirmed by his daughter, Mutya Laxa-Buensuceso, through a lengthy and emotional social media post.
She described the former celebrity as a selfless man who always thought of others and who had made an impact in the lives of many people.
“Our beloved father, friend, and Philippine movie industry treasure ANTONIO D. LAXA popularly known as TONY FERRER joined our Creator quietly in his sleep and in the comfort of his home…” she said.
“During his last days, he was surrounded by the care of his San Antonio family, the love of his children, and the joy and songs of his grandchildren. He was a remarkable, selfless man who always thought of others first, impacting a lot of lives on and off screen. We shall all remember him with fondness,” she added.
At the latter part of the said Instagram post, Mutya stated that it was her father’s wish that no public viewing be conducted during his wake.
There will also be an online mass and memorial which will be attended by his family, relatives, and friends.
Tony Ferrer was a Filipino actor who started his acting career as a support during the 1960s. In 1966, he was named as the lead cast of the James Bond-inspired series entitled “Agent X-44.”
A few weeks ago, Edgar Quizon, a former actor and the son of “Comedy King” Dolphy, also passed away. The news was confirmed by his half-brother Eric Quizon.
Another celebrity death also shook the online world in November 2020. It was revealed that April Boy Regino has joined the Creator at the age of 59.
