A woman has died after being shot on Wednesday as supporters of President Donald Trump smashed into the US Congress.
According to The New York Times, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department said the woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The woman has not been identified and information has not been released about who may have shot her.
In a report by Reuters, hundreds of Trump supporters entered the Capitol building in a bid to overturn his election defeat.
This then forced the Congress to postpone a session that would have certified Democratic President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the November 2020 election.
As per The Washington Post, Trump continues to dispute the election results and has encouraged his supporters to attend the rallies.
