PhilHealth was created to implement universal health coverage in the Philippines. However, it is being questioned recently because of the alleged anomalies in the agency.

In an earlier report by KAMI, a former official of PhilHealth and whistleblower claimed that some of its executive members stole about P15 billion from its funds. An official also said that it is possible for PhilHealth to be bankrupt by 2021 if the COVID-19 persists in the country.

Famous Filipino celebrities like Jim Paredes, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Bianca Gonzalez, also took to social media to frankly air their thoughts on this alarming news.

Duterte then threatened the PhilHealth officials involved in the alleged corruption. He mentioned that his Cabinet members will help him go after corrupt officials. He also said that those who are innocent should just keep working in the state-run firm.
