Ailee, a Korean-American singer and songwriter, is making rounds on social media in the Philippines because of her remarkable version of a famous OPM song.
In her rendition released by ABS-CBN Star Music, she can be heard fluently singing “Kahit Isang Saglit” originally performed by Martin Nievera.
On her Instagram page, Ailee revealed that his father used to sing Martin’s songs at karaoke and family gatherings.
“KAHIT ISANG SAGLIT (“EVEN FOR JUST ONE MOMENT”) is a beautiful song that was originally sung by Philippine Concert King @MartinNievera. It talks about losing someone and longing for just one more touch, one more moment with them. Growing up in Hawai’i, my father would always sing Martin Nievera songs at karaoke and family gatherings. This song always reminds me of our times back on the islands, singing with family and doing barbecues. The simpler days with just the ones you love.”
Filipino Aileeans, who could not help gushing over the singer’s beautiful rendition, then commented:
“I’m a big fan of this song and she’s done it justice! Not underdone and not overdone. Ailee is the most marketable female singer from Asia : very versatile and deeply felt signature and soulful voice with them high notes seems she was born to do this. This is real talent “Galing!” Bravo Ailee!”
“MAGBUNYI MGA PINOY..MARAMING SALAMAT PO KAY SIR TROY LAURETA...IBA ANG PINOY‼ MABUHAY ANG OPM. SALAMAT KAY IDOL AILEE.”
“The pronunciation was almost perfect, the highnotes, low notes, the emotion—oh my god. A masterpiece.”
“Her pronunciation is so good. I felt every word she sang.”
“Di mo aakalaing foreigner ang kumakanta dahil sa husay ng Tagalog niya!”

This is not the first time that a foreigner impressed a lot of Filipino audience by singing in Tagalog.
A few months ago, five beautiful American girls dubbed the TORCH sisters went viral after they caught many Filipinos’ attention because of their sing and dance cover of Filipino boy group SB19’s hit song “Go Up”.
Just recently, Minzy of now-defunct K-pop group, 2ne1, also began her musical career in the country by releasing the Tagalog-version of "LOVELY". She also signed a contract with VIVA Artists Agency.
