Darren Espanto gave an honest and insightful interview to Kyle Echarri on the latter’s YouTube channel.
KAMI learned that one of the topics they discussed is the rumor that Darren is a member of the LGBT community.
According to the singer, there is no truth to the rumor and assured the viewers that he is straight.
He added that when his critics and bashers get bored, they like to claim online that he is gay.
“A lot of people are like ‘bakla ‘yan kasi …’. Ever since The Voice Kids, when I started singing songs for girls or like I have a high voice in general they always assume my sexual preference pretty much.
“But I’d like to let everyone know that I’m straight. Yun lang. Parang ‘pag bored sila sasabihin nilang ‘Ah bakla ‘yan.’ so ‘yun,” Darren said.
Darren Espanto is a Filipino-Canadian singer and actor who became well-known in the country after joining the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines. That season was won by local singer Lyca Gairanod.
In a previous report by KAMI, Darren made the news for his amazing achievement. He was chosen as one of the contestants in a singing competition in China called “Singer 2020.”
The popular singer also went viral due to his word war with Karlos Labajo. Darren Espanto even threatened to sue Karlos for his comments against him.
