Tabata Lenk was robbed of her cellphone after a motorcycle passenger broke her car window while she was stuck in traffic in São Paulo, Brazil.

According to GMA’s Balitanghali, the incident was captured by a dashcam inside the content creator’s vehicle. News5’s separate report, citing Reuters, identified the woman as Lenk.

The footage showed her car at a standstill when a motorcycle carrying two people suddenly approached. Its passenger got off and smashed the vehicle’s window.

The suspect then quickly grabbed the cellphone from the dashboard.

Lenk screamed and cried after the sudden theft. She later continued driving, as described in the news segment.

“Napasigaw at napaiyak na lang ang babae na itinuloy kalaunan ang pagmamaneho,” the Balitanghali report narrated.

The segment said the recording was taken in August and had already received more than eight million views. At the time of its report, there were no available details about whether the suspects had been arrested.

A separate Reuters report published on October 20 provided further information about what happened to the content creator after the robbery.

According to the report, the thieves also took 2,000 reais from her bank account through Brazil’s Pix payment system after stealing her phone.

Lenk also shared that the experience affected her confidence in going out alone. She said she only resumed driving by herself after having her car windows tinted.

“No one should be afraid to leave their house, walk in the street, or use their own cellphone,” she told Reuters.

Her experience was featured in broader reporting about cellphone theft and public safety in Brazil. Balitanghali also noted that the issue had become a major topic in the country’s presidential election discussions.

Reuters reported that around 830,000 cellphone thefts were registered in Brazil in 2025, citing the Brazilian Public Security Forum. This was despite a decline in reported phone thefts since 2023.

The report also discussed how stolen devices can expose victims to financial losses when criminals gain access to banking services on their phones. In Lenk’s case, the loss extended beyond the device taken from her dashboard.

For the content creator, the incident involved both the sudden break-in while she was inside her car and the discovery that money had been taken from her account afterward.

The tourist bus was traveling from Milan, Italy, when the accident happened. More than 30 people were reportedly on board, while 22 passengers were injured. Authorities later identified one of the fatalities as a 27-year-old Filipina who was living in Italy. The other victim was a 58-year-old Filipino man who was traveling with his wife.
