I took him to a local hospital and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated,” Thomas Jr. told the Daily Mail.

Doctors then made the urgent decision to remove Thomas’s left leg below the knee to stop the spread of infection. “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death,” he added.

Thomas Jr. also shared that the next few days remain critical. “His left leg has been removed below the knee. They were worried about infection setting in,” he said. Medical teams are still monitoring him closely, and another procedure to remove a blood clot is already scheduled.
