Rovelyn Baterbonia, the mother of late Ateneo player Rene Baterbonia, clarified the ₱30 entrance charge at the establishment opened by their family in honor of the former athlete.

The clarification came after a video from a netizen circulated online, with the person raising concerns about an alleged ₱30 entrance fee at the Baterbonia family’s physical store. The issue prompted mixed reactions from netizens, with some questioning the charge while others defended the family’s decision.

In a Facebook post, Rovelyn explained that the ₱30 fee does not apply to customers who simply want to visit their merchandise store. According to her, the charge is specifically intended for visitors who enter the mini museum dedicated to her late son.

“Lilinawin ko lang po ha Ang may entrance po na 30 pesos ay Ang moseum namin Hindi po yong store namin Kong papasok kayo sa mini museum sa aking anak na c Rene Baterbonia 2.0 may entrance po na 30 pesos para sa mga maintenance po namin,” she clarified.

Rovelyn also emphasized that visitors are still welcome to enter the Baterbonia’s Collection store without paying an entrance fee. The distinction between the store and the museum was at the center of her explanation as she sought to correct what she said was a misunderstanding about the establishment.

The family launched the physical store in August, and it has remained operational since then. The space serves as a place where supporters can purchase merchandise while also offering a separate mini museum connected to Rene’s memory.

Rovelyn further explained that residents of Talacogon are exempt from the museum entrance fee. She said the exemption covers residents from all 16 barangays of the municipality, provided they can present proof that they are from Talacogon.

Despite the clarification, some netizens continued to question the decision to charge for museum entry. At the same time, many of the family’s followers expressed their support and shared their excitement about visiting the store.

Robin revealed that the production team is facing financial difficulties as well as what he described as industry politics that could affect the project. Despite the backlash surrounding the film, BB has been confirmed as its director and is now looking for actors who can portray Rene’s parents. The team remains focused on bringing the late athlete’s life story to the big screen.

The screenshot allegedly showed an invitation for Rovelyn to appear at a school event where she would share her family’s story and her experiences as Rene’s mother. After the post drew questions and comments from netizens, Rovelyn clarified that the message did not come from her account. She also came under renewed online discussion following earlier concerns about her selling Rene-related clothing or merchandise to help support her family’s needs.
