His wife, Aileen Rabe, announced his successful ascent in a Facebook post on Friday, May 16. Ric reached the world's highest peak on Thursday, 7:15 a.m. (Nepal Time), as per Aileen.

“Yes, the man defied common sense, oxygen levels, and the comfort of sea level to stand on top of the world. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it,” Aileen posted.

In another post, Aileen thanked everyone who delightfully congratulated her husband.

“Following my earlier post, I’d like to thank you for all your warm congratulations—and even more so, for your prayers. Ric won’t be able to read your comments just yet—he’s still on his way down from the mountain and will only see them once he gets back to Base Camp. So for now, let’s all continue wishing him and his team a safe and strong return.”

She likewise shared, “As of this writing, there are two other Filipino climbers currently making their way toward the top—widely expected by media and their sponsors to be the first Filipinos to reach the summit since the last recorded ascent of a Filipino almost two decades ago.”

“But we all know that Ric from Cotabato City —unsponsored, unpublicized, and quietly determined—already reached the summit yesterday morning (May 15) thru the South Col (Nepal),” Aileen proudly continued.

“Still, this isn’t a race to the top or a contest for publicity. True mountaineers climb with humility, not headlines. They don’t boast; they just quietly conquer,” part of her lengthy post reads.
