Assistant coach Yong Garcia of San Juan issued a public apology after spitting on Lord Casajeros, a player of Valenzuela City MJAS Zenith, during a Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game held at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

A replay of the incident would show Garcia spitting on the shoulder of Casajeros.

As per ABS-CBN, Casajeros described the incident as, "Nakakababa ng pagkatao ang ginawa niya sa 'kin. Nirerespeto ko s'ya pero bakit ganon ang ginawa n'ya."

Garcia was ejected from the game and he took to Facebook on Tuesday and publicly apologized, and acknowledged that his action was "unacceptable and unprofessional."

"I am writing a public apology for the recent incident that involved my unacceptable and unprofessional behavior as a basketball coach, as a representative of the city of San Juan and most especially as a husband and parent," a part of Garcia's statement read.

He also addressed a personal apology to Casajeros.

"I would like to sincerely apologize to Lordi Casajeros, the Valenzuela Team Manager, Jon Santos, the coaching staff, its players, the city of Valenzuala and to the MPBL Management Team. To my San Juan Family headed by Senator Jinggoy Estrada and the community, my behavior does not in anyway represent your good city and organisation. The incident was regrettable and inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions..."
