Senator Manny Pacquiao’s highly-anticipated boxing match with American welterweight champion Errol Spence has been canceled.
Spence revealed in a statement that he will not be able to fight Pacquiao because he suffered a tear in his left eye that requires surgery as soon as possible.
“I'm very disappointed that I won't be able to fight Manny Pacquiao on August 21.
"I was excited about the fight and the event. Unfortunately, the doctors found a tear in my left eye and said I needed to get surgery on it ASAP and that there was no way I could fight with my eye in that condition,” Spence stated.
Spence will now be replaced by Yordenis Ugas, a Cuban boxer and the current WBA welterweight champion. Ugas has a record of 26 wins, 4 losses, and 12 knockouts.
Manny Pacquiao is an eight-division world boxing champion, considered one of the greatest boxers in history. He also found success as a politician, first becoming a congressman before getting elected as a senator.
The boxer is married to Jinkee Pacquiao and they have five children – Jimuel, Michael, Mary, Queen Elizabeth, and Israel Pacquiao.
In a previous report by KAMI, Jinkee Pacquiao shared photos of Israel Pacquiao’s sweet moments with Mommy Dionisia, the mother of Manny. Jinkee also thanked Mommy D for spending quality time with her grandchild.
Jinkee’s name also caught the attention of netizens due to Lolit Solit’s viral post about her. The entertainment reporter said that there is no problem with Jinkee showing off her expensive possessions because her husband worked hard for many years to provide her those items. Albeit their fame and fortune, the members of the Pacquiao family never forget to share their blessings with other people!
