He said they were woken up by the screams of a neighbor.

Even Beth Quintao, 54, was shocked when she heard the series of bursting electrical cables, which she believed was the source of the fire.
“Sabi ko sa asawa ko… ‘Pa, tayo ka, may sunog.’ Sabi ko, ‘Sa taas tayo, sa rooftop.’ Ginawa namin, dahil malakas tubig namin… nagbubuhos kami [ng] tubig hangga’t wala pang bumbero,” said Quintao.
According to the Manila Fire District, they had difficulty responding due to the narrow road, which was blocked by parked motorcycles and tricycles. They even had to climb onto the roofs of houses to put out the fire.

Residents helped them by passing around buckets of water. They even had to break some water pipes to increase the supply to fight the fire.
The Manila Fire District is still investigating the cause of the fire, which is estimated to have caused P827,000 in damage.
