Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has apologized to Akbayan party-list Rep. Percival Cendaña following his offensive remarks against Akbayan Party-list Representative Perci Cendaña, who is a stroke survivor.

On his Facebook page, Dela Rosa released a statement to acknowledge his mistake.
“The past few days have weighed heavily on Filipinos, especially sa aming mga Mindanaoans at ibang Cebuano speaking people. Maraming nagalit, at dahil sa nag-empathize ako sa galit nila, nakapagbitiw ako ng mga salitang hindi maganda at nakapanakit ng damdamin ng iba.”
“I apologize for what I said and did, particularly in failing to see the bigger picture,” Dela Rosa admitted. “My apologies to Congressman Perci Cendana for my offensive comments on his person,” he continued.

“I wish him good health. I make no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt my words have caused,” he added.
Earlier, the reelectionist senator commented on Inquirer.net’s social media card about Cendaña’s reaction to Vice President Sara Duterte’s remark that losing a partner is more painful than being impeached.
Dela Rosa then commented in Bisaya: "'Yang mukha mo, sinapak ng 'di natin alam' kaya ngiwi. Lumapit ka nga dito kasi sasapakit kita sa kabilang mukha mo para balanse."

This came about after Cendana criticized the response of Vice President Sara Duterte regarding the impeachment complaint. Dela Rosa then took a jab at Cendana and told him to come over as he will punch him to balance his face. Cendaña then responded that he hopes that the senator would be as brave in standing up against China's aggression at the West Philippine Sea or in facing the International Criminal Court.
