At the proclamation, Zubiri asks for unity as one Philippines.
"Ang pakiusap ko sa ating mga kababayan, sana magkaisa na tayo. Tigil na natin ang bangayan. Let us work together, united as one country, as one nation."
Sen. Risa Hontiveros was all smiles when it was her turn. She was the principal author of the law that raised the age of consent from 12 to 16.
Here are other videos from the proclamation.
Ana Theresia "Risa" Navarro Hontiveros-Baraquel is a Filipino politician, journalist, and community leader. She was born on February 24, 1966. She won a seat in the Philippine Senate, placing 9th, during the 2016 general elections. Previously, she served as Akbayan sectoral representative in the Philippine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros stated that it would be better if an education expert would head the Department of Education. Her statement came after there were reports that the presumptive vice president Sara Duterte has agreed to head the agency. In ANC's "Rundown," Risa said that she does not know what the incoming VP's track record is in education. She emphasized that the department is very important and an education expert must be at the helm.
Frankie Pangilinan took to Twitter and made a funny comment on the photo of her parents, Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. They were onstage having their sweet moment as they sat side by side. Sen. Risa, on the other hand, was sitting quietly, looking straight at the crowd. The witty daughter of Sharon then told the senator "sorry" and said that her parents were "ang lalandi."
