The reason that BBM stated was that, if releasing the SALN would mean getting used for political purposes, then better not.
"Pag gagamitin lang sa pulitika, wag na lang. (If they will use it for politics, never mind) ‘Ganun na lang, let’s keep it simple," said BBM.
He said, in Rappler's report that, every politician has a rival and those rivals will always look for issues. The same report noted that the other presidential aspirants are willing to release their SALNs in the event that they win.

"Lahat ng pulitiko may kalaban eh, makakahanap ‘yan, gagawan ng issue ‘yan kahit na walang issue and my prime example is Corona, walang issue eh, tinanggal siya eh," said Marcos, as per a tweet by CNN Philippines.
Marcos added that, "It just gets in the way of everything, which is absolutely unnecessary."
It can be recalled that in October 2021, in Marcos' interview with ONE News, he was asked for his opinion on releasing SALN's and he said that it is right, and that it is for transparency and accountability.
“’Yan, okay ‘yan, transparency, accountability, tama ‘yan,” said Marcos.
Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, also popularly known as BBM, is a Pinoy politician famous for being the only son of the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos. He served as Ilocos governor from 1998 to 2007 and then as congressman after stepping down as governor.
Bongbong Marcos is set to attend and ready to be interviewed by Boy Abunda in ABS-CBN's presidential interview. "The 2022 Presidential One-On-One Interviews with Boy Abunda" will be aired on January 24 to 28 on both the Kapamilya Channel and the Boy Abunda Talk YouTube channel. It can be recalled that Bongbong Marcos became one of the hot topics on social media for having refused the invitation to join the Jessica Soho presidential interviews. Four presidential aspirants obliged. They were VP Leni Robredo, Sen. Ping Lacson, Mayor Isko Moreno and Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
Anthony Taberna reacted to the controversy involving Bongbong Marcos and Jessica Soho. Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson, said that the former senator refused to be interviewed by Soho because of her alleged biases against him. Taberna said that politicians should not be criticized for refusing to grant interviews. However, he added that it is also wrong to label journalists and reporters as biased for asking politicians tough and difficult questions.
