GMA Network has just released an official statement debunking the claims of “bias” by the camp of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos, and at the same time, expressed support for their employee, Jessica Soho.

According to a report by the Inquirer, the team of Soho sent out invitations for presidential aspirants to guest in the program, “Presidential Interviews.”

The former senator’s camp, however, is said to have declined the invitation and later issued a statement through BBM spokesperson, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, as to why they chose not to participate.

He said the reason the former senator opted out of the program is founded on their belief that the show's host, in this case, Jessica Soho, is allegedly biased against the Marcoses.

A report by CNN Philippines quoted Atty. Rodriguez as saying that Soho’s questions will allegedly dwell on negativity about BBM, which according to Atty. Rodriguez, the UniTeam dislikes and won’t subscribe to.

Rappler reported that GMA Public Affairs immediately issued a statement defending the multi-awarded journalist and at the same time, extoled her virtues and attributes.

In its statement, GMA defended Soho, saying that she has been named by local and foreign organizations as the most trusted media personality in the country.

It also pointed out how the virtues of Soho embodies the ethos of GMA News and Public Affairs of “Walang Kinikilingan, Walang Prinoprotektahan, Serbisyong Totoo Lamang.”

The network also cited how it is regarded as “the most trusted media organization in the Philippines, according to the University of Oxford/Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.”

The statement then pointed out that “the same ethos” guided Soho and the entire organization she belonged to.

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, also popularly known as BBM, is a Pinoy politician famous for being the only son of the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos. He served as Ilocos governor from 1998 to 2007 and then as congressman after stepping down as governor.

Earlier, Bongbong Marcos declined the invitation of GMA network's news anchor Jessica Soho for "The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews." Atty. Vic Rodriguez, BBM's chief of staff, stated that the reason why Bongbong Marcos decided not to attend is that they believe that Jessica is "biased against the Marcoses." He also stated that they believe her queries will ony be focusing on negativit about BBM.

According to reports, the team of Soho invited five presidential aspirants, namely, Senator Ping Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice President Leni Robredo. The news and public affairs program, 24 oras, gave a sneak preview of the program "Presidential Interview."
