A New Year video greeting of Sen. Leila de Lima, which was uploaded on Twitter, has gone viral.
She gave a message of hope, inspiring the Filipino people to just hang on and to hope for better days.
"Together, let us hope for better days, and a just and fair society for everyone. Ang bawat pagsubok ay kaya nating lampasan, basta't nananalig tayo, nagdarasal, at nagkakaisa. Isang mahigpit na yakap para sa lahat. Laban lang."

What was also evident was the difference between how the senator looked at present, as compared to how she looked at the time that she was active on the senate floor.
Regardless of her appearance, the senator faced her audience with a smile.

Sen. Leila de Lima is a Philippine senator, who is an open critic of the present administration of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She has been in jail since 2017. It was alleged that the senator used dr*g money for her campaign in 2016.
United States President Donald Trump already approved a provision that bans entry of some Philippine politicians. The said prominent personality signed the said provision when he approved his country’s 2020 budget. It is stated that those who are involved in detaining Leila de Lima are prohibited from entering the US. However, the US government has yet to issue an official list of the banned Filipino politicians.
US Senator Marco Rubio has called for the release of opposition Senator Leila de Lima. Rubio said that De Lima has been imprisoned over “bogus charges.” He also urged the PH government to release De Lima “unconditionally.”
