Doroja said the discovery was particularly upsetting because tarsiers are among the animals he and his companions admire. He also pointed out that people often travel to Bohol specifically to see these creatures.
“Pinasa sa akin ‘yun ng kaibigan kong runner. Nanlambot talaga kami kasi ‘yung tarsier is one of our favorite animals din po. ‘Yung iba nga, pumupunta pa ng Bohol para lang makikita ng tarsier. Tapos malalaman namin dito sa Calbayog na marami pa lang tarsier,” he said.

He believes the animal may have been affected by loud sounds from chainsaws used during tree-cutting activities nearby.
“Ang tarsiers, naaapektuhan ng ingay ng chainsaw. Sa area kasi at that time, ‘yung unang sinend nila na maraming nagpuputol ng coconut tree or lumber,” Doroja explained.
What made the discovery more alarming was that a similar incident had reportedly occurred earlier in the year. According to him, runners had previously encountered another dead tarsier in the same location during their morning exercise.
“This year din. During sa morning run nila, may nakita rin po silang mago o tarsier sa same area rin. Patay na rin,” he recalled.
Concerned about the repeated discoveries, Doroja decided to upload the photograph online to call attention to the animals' situation.
“‘Yung purpose kasi ng post is mag-raise sana ng awareness, sana maprotektahan din ‘yung tarsier lalo na dito sa Calbayog.”
Meanwhile, Kuya Kim explained that tarsiers are highly sensitive to bright lights, human contact, and excessive noise, which can cause severe stress. Viewers were reminded not to touch, capture, disturb, or keep them as pets, and to help preserve the forests and trees they depend on for shelter.
