In a report aired on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, October 14, Clavio clarified that filing the complaint was not an act of revenge. He explained that he wanted to pursue the truth because the accusation had affected his reputation as a journalist.

Ceniza previously accused Clavio of being among the media personalities who allegedly received paper bags filled with money from Co, who has been accused of being one of the masterminds behind the multibillion-peso flood control scam. The former bodyguard made the allegation during a press conference in June.

During the press conference, Ceniza described how he allegedly witnessed media personalities receiving paper bags of money. He specifically mentioned Clavio while recounting his claims.

“Na-assign po ako sa isang PR na taga-media na si Bernard Peralta. Doon ko po nakita yung mga nabibigyan ng paperbag na mga anchor, na mga taga-media, kagaya po ni Arnold Clavio. At doon po muna at sa affidavit ko na lang po,” said Ceniza.

Clavio has previously denied the allegations, describing the claims against him as laughable. He also stressed the importance of presenting evidence instead of relying on accusations.

In an earlier statement, the GMA anchor challenged those making claims against him to substantiate their allegations.

“Talk is cheap. Bago ang dada, ebidensya muna,” Clavio said.

Months ago, Arnold strongly denied allegations linking him to the alleged distribution of cash “suitcases” sourced from flood control funds. Former bodyguards of Zaldy Co identified several personalities during a controversial press conference. Clavio said he was prepared to face the matter in court without fear or hesitation. Meanwhile, GMA Network said it would review the issue and urged the public not to jump to conclusions.

Last year, Arnold expressed his strong stance against Mayor Vico Sotto’s statements regarding the alleged paid interviews conducted by Julius Babao and Korina Sanchez. Clavio challenged the mayor to present solid evidence instead of making insinuations or speculations. According to Clavio, the issue was not merely a personal attack on Babao and Sanchez but also a threat to the credibility of the entire journalism industry. He clarified that he was not taking sides but defending the profession against damaging allegations, while appealing for mutual respect between the government and the media.
