The elderly driver, regarded by many as an icon among local public utility drivers, collapsed right in the middle of a massive transport strike in Monumento this past Tuesday.
What started as another passionate day of fighting for the livelihood of his fellow drivers quickly turned into a terrifying medical emergency that left his dedicated supporters in absolute tears.
According to a report by GMA News, the elderly activist was full of energy just moments before his terrifying collapse.

Janette Gabatin, Secretary General of PISTON-NCR, emotionally recalled how quickly things escalated on the pavement. "Bigla na lang daw pong sumikip 'yung dibdib at nawalan na po siya ng malay. Hindi po siya nagsabi na masama 'yung pakiramdam niya, basta umupo na lang daw po siya," she stated, deeply shaken by the unexpected ordeal.
Medical responders immediately rushed Elmer to the Caloocan City Medical Center, where he is now reportedly in critical condition.
Gabatin explained that his advanced age and pre-existing health struggles likely triggered the life-threatening episode. "Ang una niya pong iniinda ay 'yung sakit niya po sa likod. At napag-alaman ko rin po na may asthma siya.
