Authorities noted that the victim was dragged for a short distance before the driver could bring the massive vehicle to a complete stop, resulting in fatal crushing injuries.
The sheer weight of the truck and the tight spatial constraints of the bridge left virtually no margin for error, turning a common passing maneuver into a fatal ordeal.
Reflecting on the harrowing event during questioning by local law authorities, the truck driver expressed helplessness over the vehicle's momentum.
Explaining the physical constraints of stopping such a heavy load in an emergency, the driver stated to investigators: “Hindi niya nagawang maihinto kaagad ang truck dahil sa mabigat ang karga nitong mga semento.”
Following the tragic mishap, the driver was immediately taken into police custody where he remains while formal investigations continue to piece together the exact liability and sequence of events.
