Grade 6 student was injured in a hit-and-run incident after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a pedestrian lane in Caloocan City.

According to a report by Gabriel Gonzalez on GMA News' "Unang Balita," the incident happened early Tuesday morning along A. Mabini Street in Barangay 5. CCTV footage showed the young student crossing the pedestrian lane on her way to school when a motorcycle suddenly hit her.

The impact threw the child onto the road. The report stated that the rider allegedly looked back at the victim before leaving the area without offering assistance.
Several residents attempted to chase the rider, but he managed to escape. The victim's family later sought help from local authorities and the police in identifying the person responsible.

Authorities are now conducting an investigation and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the rider's route after the incident.
Police are also using CCTV backtracking to locate the motorcycle involved. Officials hope the footage will help them identify and apprehend the suspect as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, barangay officials said accidents are not uncommon in the area despite having adequate lighting and traffic personnel present.
"Kung may nakita kayong may mga tumatawid at alam n'yong pedestrian 'yun, kailangan dahan-dahan naman kayo sa pagpapatakbo," a barangay official reminded motorists.
The victim's mother shared that she was deeply worried after learning about what happened to her daughter. She immediately brought the child to the hospital to check for possible injuries.
"So far okay naman po. Wala naman po siyang bali," the mother said.
She explained that she had been teaching her daughter to commute and go to school on her own because she also takes care of a baby at home. However, after the incident, she plans to accompany her daughter to school again once she has fully recovered.
The mother also had a message for the rider involved in the accident.
"Sa iyo rider, sana meron kang konsensya. Sana man lang tinulungan mo yung anak ko hindi yung tiningnan mo lang," she said.
The student is currently recovering and has not yet returned to school while authorities continue their investigation.
