A video shown in the report featured one of the couple's last visits to the Philippines. During that trip, they shared plans for the future and spoke about returning.

Genesis first moved to Canada in 2019. Bello later joined him, and the longtime couple eventually got married in 2023. Their dream of becoming permanent residents in Canada had already started to come true last year.

Family members described them as hardworking, responsible, and deeply committed to helping their loved ones.

One relative said of Bello: “Umalis po siya ng Philippines hindi lang po para sa sarili niya kundi para po sa buong family po. Dala-dala niya po yung pangarap ng buong family po.”

The couple also regularly helped support their parents financially. Bague's father undergoes dialysis treatments, while Bello's mother is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease.

A family member recalled how the couple consistently prioritized the needs of their parents over their own wants.
