A policeman accused of assaulting his live-in partner in Malolos, Bulacan faced the victim once again days after the incident went viral online. In a report aired on “Unang Balita” by GMA News, the police officer was seen repeatedly apologizing during their meeting at the National Police Commission or Napolcom.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video allegedly showed the policeman slapping, punching, and hitting his live-in partner during an argument. The footage quickly sparked strong reactions from netizens.

During the confrontation, the officer admitted his wrongdoing and explained that they had been dealing with several personal and financial problems.

“Opo humihingi ng pasensya sa lahat ng na-open ng nangyari sa aming mag-partner po,” the policeman said.

He also added, “Hindi ko na rin po nakilala yung sarili ko sa nangyari sa dami po naming problema sa negosyo at sa ibang personal pa po naming buhay.”

Despite the apology, Napolcom clarified that the administrative proceedings against the officer will still push through. According to the agency, the policeman could still face dismissal from service depending on the outcome of the investigation.

A Napolcom official also strongly condemned the officer’s actions and warned other policemen not to imitate such behavior.

“Ito po ay huwag niyong tularan. Kung sino man pong pulis ang nanonood nito, huwag niyo pong tularan,” the official said, while also calling the officer a “bugok na pulis” because of the violent incident.

Napolcom also encouraged possible victims of the policeman to come forward and file complaints if necessary.

Meanwhile, the policeman remains under restrictive custody of the Philippine National Police while criminal and administrative complaints are being processed.

The PNP also reiterated its reminder to officers to respect human rights, especially those of women.

“Anumang gawain na hindi naaayon sa batas ay kailangang managot,” the PNP said in the report.
