The suspect and their 15-year-old child were both found in critical condition following the incident, while a younger sibling escaped without injuries.
According to a report by Oscar Oida on 24 Oras Weekend, police officers from Antipolo responded to the family’s home and found the surroundings unusually quiet.
When they entered the bedroom, they discovered the lifeless body of the woman. The father, meanwhile, was found inside the bathroom with severe injuries.

Investigators recovered a kitchen knife at the scene, which they believe was used in the attack. Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Azurin described what officers saw upon arrival.
“‘Yung suspek ay naka-lie sa bathroom with a wound in the abdomen. Labas ang kaniyang bituka. At 'yung wife ng suspek ay in bloodbath na nakahiga rin doon sa floor ng kuwarto,” said Azurin.
The couple’s 15-year-old child was also critically wounded. Authorities said the victim’s sibling shared information about what happened inside the house.
“‘Di umano sinaksak siya ng tatay niya. At nagkaroon sila ng opportunity ng kaniyang kapatid na makatakas,” Azurin added.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but investigators are exploring several possibilities.
“Based sa interview namin sa kaniyang kapatid, medyo engaged sa illegal g@mbling, casino. So, baka ‘yun ang dahilan kaya medyo nalubog siguro sila sa utang. Kaya minsan ‘yun ang nagiging dahilan kaya nagkakaroon ng ganiyang depression o ganiyang pag-iisip ang mga suspects. But we're still investigating the case,” Azurin explained.
Authorities said the suspect may face complaints for parricide, frustrated parricide, and attempted parricide once his condition stabilizes.
Police also noted that the suspect may undergo a drug test, while the deceased wife could be subjected to an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
In another development, President Marcos Jr. removed Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III and designated Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as officer-in-charge. Nartatez, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Tanglaw-Diwa Class of 1992, previously served as Deputy Chief for Administration, the second-highest position in the PNP. Torre’s recent reshuffling of senior police officials, which reportedly lacked approval from the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), drew opposition and sparked controversy. As the new OIC, Nartatez committed to strengthening patrol operations, enhancing investigations, enforcing the five-minute response policy, and promoting integrity within the police force.
Earlier, Gen. Nicolas Torre III had already been relieved from his post as PNP chief. Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the decision on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. A directive from Malacañang instructed Torre to immediately turn over all official responsibilities, although no specific reason for the move was disclosed.
