A professional basketball player was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly kissing a woman without her consent and engaging in a fight inside a bar in Bonifacio Global City.

Authorities in Taguig confirmed that the suspect is now in custody and facing complaints for Acts of Lasciviousness and Physical Injuries. 🚨

According to the 22-year-old victim, the incident happened in the smoking area where she accidentally bumped into the player.

“We were going to the smoking area, nagkabump kami, then I wanted to say sorry then he kissed me bigla,” she said.

“I was so shocked so syempre hindi ako nakareact agad, hinatak niya ako and he kissed me.”

She immediately ran to her boyfriend and reported what happened. “Tumakbo ako sa smoking area and told my boyfriend and sabi ko someone kissed me,” she added.

The boyfriend confronted the player shortly afterward.

“Nagulat ako yung girlfriend ko nilapitan ako, shock na shock siya, na hinalikan siya bigla,” he said.
“So s'yempre nakita ko yung lalaki kinonfront ko, kahit mas malaki siya.”

The confrontation escalated into a scuffle, leaving the boyfriend injured in the eye. The couple then sought help from authorities and decided to file charges.

Police later disclosed that the suspect had prior cases.

“Ang suspect ay may kaso nung 2016 VAWC, 2018 VAWC, tapos nung 2021 ay kidnapping and failure to return a minor,” said Police Captain Ibralen Jain of the Taguig City Police Women and Children Protection Section.

The boyfriend said the player allegedly attempted to settle the matter.

“Sabi niya pwede bang bayaran nalang,” he recalled.
“Hindi lahat nadadaan sa pera.”

He insisted on pursuing the complaint.

“If we allow this to happen, gagawin gagawin mo ulit yan sa ibang babae,” he said.

The suspect and his legal counsel declined to comment as the investigation continues.

In another development, authorities from the Bacoor Component City Police identified the man captured in a viral video trying to open a vehicle as Joel Viola Matados. Police said Matados, a resident of General Trias, may be suffering from a medical condition. His family shared that he had left home earlier that day and appeared disoriented during the incident. Motorist Lorie Sy recalled the alarming encounter, saying, “I stayed locked inside my car while he repeatedly pulled on my door handle in the middle of traffic.” Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to help locate Matados so he can receive proper medical attention. Local health officials are also coordinating with police to ensure he receives appropriate care once found.
