The trouble began when the 30-year-old victim approached his 56-year-old Officer in Charge (OIC) to ask for a day-off. According to investigators, the suspect denied the request and told the victim to stick to the assigned schedule. This decision did not sit well with the younger guard, who reportedly reacted poorly to the rejection of his request.
Witnesses claimed that the victim's anger escalated to the point where he retrieved a bolo. He reportedly challenged the OIC to a fight multiple times. At first, the suspect tried to ignore the provocations, and other co-workers intervened to convince the victim to go home and cool off.
However, the peace did not last long. Despite being sent away by witnesses, the victim returned a short while later, still visibly upset. Reports indicate that he began throwing stones at the suspect. Driven to his limit, the OIC allegedly grabbed his service firearm—a shotgun—and fired at the victim.

Workplace violence among security personnel is a serious concern for authorities, as these individuals are often armed and under high levels of stress. This incident serves as a grim reminder of how unresolved personal and professional disputes can lead to life-altering consequences when tempers flare.
This violent encounter in Batangas adds to a string of recent incidents involving security personnel and local officials that have kept authorities on high alert.
In a separate and more severe case, a security guard who was the primary suspect in the shooting of two fellow guards was finally apprehended by the police. The arrest brought a sense of relief to the families of the victims who had been seeking justice for the violent act. Investigators are now looking into the motives behind the shooting to build a solid case against the suspect.
Meanwhile, the community is also mourning the loss of a former public official in another shooting incident involving unidentified suspects. A former barangay kagawad was killed after being targeted by gunmen riding-in-tandem while he was out in public. The local police are currently conducting a manhunt and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators and determine the reason behind the killing.
