The suspect, whose history is reportedly marred by illegal drug use, claimed that he acted in a fit of rage after discovering evidence of infidelity on his wife’s Facebook Messenger account.
According to investigators from the Davao City Police Office, the victim, a 27-year-old woman, was resting in her home when her husband launched the unprovoked attack.
Armed with a kitchen knife, the suspect reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times. Despite her severe injuries, the woman managed to scramble outside in a desperate attempt to seek help but collapsed just a few meters from her doorstep.

She was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim's mother, who was present at the time of the incident, also sustained injuries.
She was reportedly slashed while heroically attempting to shield her daughter from the suspect's blade. She is currently in stable condition and recovering from her wounds.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after the crime was reported. Police recovered the murder weapon at the scene.
During interrogation, the husband expressed no remorse, justifying his actions by alleging that his wife was having an affair. He claimed he had spent the evening scrolling through her private messages, where he supposedly found incriminating conversations with another man.
However, local authorities and former barangay officials pointed to a darker underlying factor: the suspect's long-standing struggle with narcotics.
A former punong barangay mentioned that the suspect had a reputation for volatility and was frequently involved in neighborhood disturbances linked to his drug habit.
The Davao City Police are finalizing the documentation for the case. The suspect remains in custody and is set to face a string of serious charges, including Parricide for the killing of his spouse and Frustrated Parricide for the attack on his mother-in-law.
This incident has once again sparked discussions in the local community regarding the lethal intersection of substance abuse and domestic violence, leaving a family shattered and a young woman’s life cut short.
In other news, a 59-year-old village councilman, identified as Joe Arnel Gawan, was fatally shot on Monday, January 26, shortly after completing a local community service project in Negros Occidental. Witnesses reported that a gunman approached the victim in Purok Puncian, Barangay Santa Rosa, and fired at close range as Gawan was getting off a vehicle following a neighborhood cleanup drive. Family members and colleagues noted that the victim had previously dealt with threats allegedly linked to a contentious property dispute, though police are still verifying the exact motive. Local police have formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) and are reviewing surveillance feeds to track down the assailants who escaped toward the town proper on a motorcycle.
Still in other news, aviation police were forced to discharge a firearm on Wednesday afternoon to neutralize a 54-year-old passenger who became violent during a routine security check in Cabatuan, Iloilo. The crisis began when an X-ray scanner flagged a concealed bladed weapon in the baggage of the suspect, a resident of Camiguin, as he was entering the pre-departure area. Instead of surrendering the weapon, the suspect reportedly lunged at Police Executive Master Sgt. Dixon Zabala with the knife, resulting in a single defensive shot to the suspect's shoulder. Currently recovering under hospital arrest, the individual faces serious charges of attempted h0micide and direct assault, while airport officials implement stricter screening measures.
